I think there will be casualties among bars, restaurants, hotels, rentals, car hires,airlines..
Locals will not return to bars/restaurants in their droves, at least initially, and I think the tourist season for this year is gone..?
Hopefully most businesses will be able to cling on until next year.

They were looking at way of guaranteeing credit to small and medium-sized businesses but this will have to be paid back later.
Nobody who I have spoken to has heard anything.

A lot of small bars and restaurants make most of their living during the tourist season which traditionaly starts at around Easter and peaks in July and August, but what the cancellation of the Easter celebrations and now the May Fair and the dire implications from the President that the lockdown will be extended from 26 April and even longer if necessary, the tourist season may well start very late, if at all.

Not looking good, JamesB.
I'm just happy to be retired now , and not have the stress anymore of running a business here .

Rosiemac wrote: 14 Apr 2020 21:46 Please explain why you think some bars and restaurants will definitely not reopen again.
I assume they will have to continue paying rent for the bar or restaurant, electricity bills etc. Stock will have deteriorated and need replacing when they can re-open. They will have domestic rent and expenses, and no income to cover them. They are potentially losing income from the best part of their year, the summer months.

I don't know what financial support the Spanish government is offering?

It’s a cruel world. Perhaps they will get some help to keep them afloat, I sincerely hope so anyway.
