New roadside emissions testing

#1

Post: # 53488Post jimny1 »

I am all for this despite i own an older vehicle
The number of times i have been behind a car or commercial vehicle spewing out black smoke and choking me
I know part of the reason is some people are finding ways to cheat the system , for example my car uses ad blu, this reduces the exhaust gases to zero, but i have to replace the bag of fluid when it has expired or split, and it is not cheap
It is possible to by pass the ad blu using a method called remapping , an electronic tool, and fool the car into thinking it is still using it, and the same at the ITV station
Moreso commercial vehicles have been doing this to cut down on expenses, but this results in more pollution
Apparently the new roadside anti pollution system will detect this and fine any offenders
What is a bit worrying is the article says the exhaust gas tests at the ITV will be even stricter and target older vehicles
I just hope this is not further legislation to force fossil fueled cars off the road to push for everyone to go electric
I get annoyed when i am paying a premium already to have zero emissions and still will not be allowed to enter certain emission zones, just because of the year of my vehicle
