Torrevieja Craft Market To Reopen Shortly

#1

Post: # 5527Post Carl »

The craft market (also known as the hippy market) on the Paseo de La Liberta could reopen as early as next week, with restrictions in place for pedestrians and stalls opening on alternate days so that only one side of the market (port or road side) is open at any one time.

No news though on when the weekly Friday market will reopen.

That's good news. Another bit of normality. Strange that it is taking so long to get the Wednesday and Friday markets up and running. I think a lot of the problems stem from the 2mtr distancing rule. It is impossible to allocate space with the 2mtr rule and make it profitable for businesses to open. Why not adopt the WHO recommendation of 1mtr.

I agree with you Bee on the 2mtr rule, it is simply is impossible for some businesses to implement.

I went to a small pharmacy last week on the Orihuela Costa and due too it's floor layout and fixed fittings they had tried to implement a 1.5mtr rule, but staff and customers were even unable to abide by that.

Conforama at Zenia Boulevard reopened last Thursday/Friday, I went in yesterday. All they have opened is probably a 10mtr x 10mtr section just inside the store doors, with a one way system in operation and floor markings for the 2mtrs. It took me longer to wait for one of the shop staff to finish putting disinfectant on a mat at the entrance and to use the hand gel dispenser then it did for me to walk around the section they had opened. A total waste of time and electricity on the part of Conforama reopening for just such a small section.

Fully reopens from today with the usual social distancing restrictions. From the picture in the article, the pavement marking indicate that people will be required to keep right as they move through the market.
