Yet another benefit from BREXIT. I wonder how much bureaucratic time and effort went into this? I'm not an Apple fan but civil servants should not get involved unless public safety is involved.

It makes sense to have a standard USB connector on all devices. All desktop PCs use USB type C as do laptops making connecion with devices universal.

Does it? It should be for the customer to decide. What if someone designs a far superior connector? Would it have to be banned in Europe because some civil servant decided on a USB type C? On what basis was the type C chosen anyway? Technical superiority? Cost? Or because it's Apple and the EU don't seem keen on Apple? (And don't get me wrong, I'm an Android/Samsung fan.)

It's a good job the EU didn't stick their noses into video formats for example or we could all have been stuck with v2000 video recorders as opposed to betamax or VHS. What next, all TVs must be 40inch to fit in a EU standard TV stand?

PC's, laptops etc generally have USB type A by the way.
