It must be a nightmare for working parents with no relatives nearby to step in to help mind children. This close down of schools could last up to 5 weeks.

The implicatons of this are massive and that seems to be why the UK Government have yet to announce suspension of education, to delay it to the last possible moment to reduce the number of weeks that children will be out of school.

The problem is even if you have relatives close by, will they want to look after a child for such a prolonged period of time. Grandparents, normally the resource commonly used for childminding during the school holidays, may not even be an option due to the threat the virus poses to people of a certain age.

Even if the schools close the children will still be meeting and playing with their friends, and according to the UK Governments medical advisors the virus spreads more amongst small gatherings of people, than large.

I was in Iceland and ALDI today .
Both supermarkets extremely busy, although , there was no evidence of "panic buying".
Which makes me wonder about the reality of Spain banning gatherings of 40 people in any given place
I'm sure the staff alone in both places, amounted to more than 40 people .

I have to correct my above post .
At the time of posting it yesterday - events shortly after , took a rapid decline .
I went to Mercadona this morning , only to find both the car parks full , and I estimate about 400 people in the store .
I only wanted to stock up on water - but it took me 25 minutes in the checkout queue , before I could get out of there .
