I read the link posted in the OP.

It says you can turn it on and off at will.

Yes mine is switched off at the moment, but i dont trust anything that has been installed without my knowledge , i dont want to be tracked by anyone and with technology the way it is who knows if you are being monitored or not, just because it says off doesnt mean it is
I am trying to find a way to uninstall it at the moment, but if they are determined to put this on everyones phone then it will keep reappearing

How your phone received the update
Your Android phone regularly gets updates in the background. The Exposure Notifications System was introduced in an update to Google Play services.

The system is turned off by default. This technology only works if you decide to opt in. If you change your mind, you can turn it off at any time.

I hope so jimbo
You hear about peoples phones being tracked without their knowledge, mainly criminals, so i would say thats acceptable
But if any time in the future they install something like this where its made compulsory i would say its a step too far in the " big brother" world we all live in now

Doesn't bother me, i have nothing to hide or fear.
Lots of organisations know lots about each if us anyway, this is no different.

Social media, Store cards, bank cards, using a mobile gives your location anyway, internet purchases, browsing to name a few.

Nothing to hide, nothing to fear.

For example we all know the GK has just been in Germany, Flying back to Spsin on Ryanair, i have just driven back via Pau,

They can track mobile phones as they send out a signal even with the battery out .there is a chip on the motherboard that contains a form of battery that contains enough energy to transmit a short signal .
