Would imagine there must have been some frustration amongst the La Mata stall holders that markets in the surrounding towns have been largely fully open for more than 2 weeks now.

Possibly , the delay might be down to La Mata being a "street" market , as opposed to the other markets being self contained in their own grounds .
Only a guess ?

Possibly, although the street markets on the Orihuela Costa managed to get themselves fully reopened several weeks ago.

Yes - a different town hall .
Orihuela is probably a bit more flexible .
La Mata comes under Torrevieja ( I think ) , or is it Guardamar, Carl ?

Correct GK, different Town Hall.

I have never heard the words 'Orihuela' and 'flexible' used in the same sentence, but you never know maybe one day.

La Mata comes under Torrevieja.
