Capital Punishment

I know that Capital Punishment is a controversial subject and if there is any discussion I hope it can be conducted in a gentlemanly manner and now that the member who started an equally controversial about bullfighting and saying how he loved watching an innocent animal being butchered in a bullring has been kicked off, there is every chance that it will be.

I know there are many people who believe that taking a human life is wrong under any circumstances and conscientious objectors throughout history are a good example, and in fact, many paid with their own life..

I respect their views and, up to a point, understand them.

But I also believe that if you commit the ultimate crime, then you must pay the ultimate penalty.

If, with premeditation and malice aforethought, you take the life of an innocent child, you give up your right to belong to the human race and you must pay with you own life.

I think it's wrong that a child killer should be allowed to breath the very air that he has deprived from his victim .. forever.

I'm against it
I don't believe anybody has he right to take anybody else's life, except for in a case of self defence, and that includes The State.
It hasn't worked as a deterrent.

Interestingly in the USA, when somebody is executed, homicide is written as the cause of death on the certificate.

I am for it.

Anyone who can abuse and murder without care forgoes any rights.

Why should Ian Huntley be allowed to live after denying the lives of Holly and Jessica and the untold harm caused to all their family and friends.

The murderers of Lee Rigby have no rights to continue life.

Lincoln when you mention the state do you therefore believe it was wrong to target those ISIS members who were beheading innocent people.
Deliberately targeting them with drones.

Yes, but the word homicde means .. ' The act of one human killing another' .. which is exacty what capital punishment is.

Under the constitution that is the only way they can term it and they can't say legal or illegal

It could be that it means the cause of death was homicide referring to they died because of the homicide they committed.
I don't know, just guessing.

I let my feelings about this this be known in the mccanns thread
I just wanted to add , the death penalty is also a deterrent
The fact there would not be a choice to spend life in comfy prison , just a lethal injection or the likes surely would put off some potential murderers and rapists and make them think twice
But i also accept there are some that are so psychopathic or drugged up that wouldnt cross their minds

They only have six choices...

Natural causes
Accident
Homicide
Suicide
Pending investigation
Unknown

And the only one that fit's is ' homicide '

Like the McCanns I've also done some research on Capitol Punishment and I'm afraid that there's no actual proof that it's a deterrent.

And in fact the prospect of being banged up for a very long time or even for the rest of your life doesn't seem to be deterrent anyway, because in the minds of most criminals, they are never going to be caught. !!

Some of my friends are against killing another human being for whatever reason, and that includes self defence.

To them, the end doesn't justify the means.

Even if its not a deterrent, surely it would give some recompense to the families of children , for example, that have been raped and murdered by paedophiles and the like
No, it wont bring them back, but where is the justice when they are in prison, living more comfortably than some people on the streets, i know i would be first in line to watch them being executed, life or no life
And when people say "oh, but they will never see freedom or daylight", some thrive on prison life, at least the ones i see on prison documentaries , and enjoy being pampered and secure with all their needs taken care of
As a society we are too soft on these creatures
