Totally in agreement with you jimbo as far as reducing tax dodging, spain thrives on the black market
Unfortunately the big fish will always find ways to hide their stash with the help of their top accountants and lawyers , like sending it to switzerland, perfectly legal and anonymous

The only major problem i see not having it is they would have to rewrite the way they make bank robbery and heist movies
"This is a stick up, hand over your credit cards "

Sorry about that, i was thinking outside the vault, i mean box

Fair point, Jimbo .
But , everything you ever buy will be "tracked" .
Purchase you make for yourself , family , friends etc.
I'm surprised that Spain is considering this , given it's huge black economy . :D

Like having ID, if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear

Almost everything is tracked nowadays even without a credit or debit card, store cards deliver similar or even more.
Tesco, carrefour, asda, dia etc etc.

Many years ago when still mobile i ordered some rental skis in Austria for son in law. Everytime i went on the Internet for months after, ski rental offers kept coming up.
They know everything they need to aready. Thomman for example for both of us. Accept cookies makes it happen along with other internet protocols.

The only thing they keep getting wrong is ringing to tell me I have been in an accident. I always say yes and get through to the real people. Then I ask them which one are they referring to as they have the info, but then they hang up.

Last time however they stayed on and asked if I was injured and after saying yes they asked how. I told them my head fell off. Then they hung up.

So they dont know quite everything.

Well it look like it will never happen .. in Spain anyway.

The European Central Bank warns that the elimination of cash in the eurozone is not allowed because it believes that it hurts the disadvantaged.

And I have the same problem with Thomann also.
