Security verification
Security verification
Just recently I'm getting asked for security verification, to prove I'm human when logging in.
Wondering if this is the norm now or just because I'm using a VPN here in Spain set to UK. The other issue I have with it for some reason only when using edge, my default browser, is that it will not input into the tick box to complete login. Other browsers work fine.
Any thoughts appreciated

Re: Security verification
I was getting the verification thing too in the UK. We are now in Spain and it's the same. Also I can never get auto login to work! I have just got used to it....

Re: Security verification
Just protecting the integrity of the forum. I haven't got a problem with that.
Social media is now awash with bots and many millions of websites use Cloudflair. As any Admin of a forum would know that you get an avalanche of bots and spam every day and it's time consuming and hard work sorting the chaff from the wheat.
I've noticed that it's been programmed that if you support Donald Trump you can't log in, or it might be just my browser. ... Bono.
From Google ...
"Cloudflare is an internet infrastructure and security service that sits between a website and its visitors. It provides features such as: Web Application Firewall (WAF) to protect sites from attacks like SQL injection and cross-site scripting. DDoS protection and bot protection"

Yes all browsers work differently Stowie. I use Chrome, more out of the devil you know than anything else.
Re: Security verification
The forum suffered a DDoS attack on 31 May, receiving a surge of traffic to the forum at the rate of up to 388 requests per second. The forum hosting company took temporary immediate action to mitigate the security threat at that time.
Cloudflare was already active on the forum prior to the DDoS attack, but the security layer it provided was set at a low level commensurate with the deemed possible threats to the forum, and its presence on the forum invisible to users.
After the DDoS attack an additional layer of security was added on 1 June to prevent malicious traffic flooding the forum. As this thread highlights whilst Cloudflare presence is now prominent, the increased security does cause issues for users.
I will take a look at the issues raised and see if there is anything that can be done to mitigate them.
