One Last State Of Alarm Extension Request
One Last State Of Alarm Extension Request
Sanchez announced today he will request one last extension to the State of Alarm, but unlike other extensions that have been 2 weeks this will be for a period of one month.
The Prime Minister also believes that by the summer 50% of the country would have completed the de-escalation process.

Am I right in saying that this extension would be necessary, in order for the 4 phases to be implemented, without any problems occuring , Admin ?
Re: One Last State Of Alarm Extension Request
This extension would take the end date of the State of Alarm to the 23 June, and I believe Sanchez never gave a specific date for completion of the 4 phases, merely saying by the end of June.Graham Knight wrote: 16 May 2020 20:39 Am I right in saying that this extension would be necessary, in order for the 4 phases to be implemented, without any problems occuring , Admin ?
Sanchez today saying that only 50% of the country will have completed the 4 phases by the beginning of summer, seems to suggest that even with this one last 4 week extension the State of Alarm will expire before the whole country has de-escalated.

Thanks for that. It's definitely unchartered waters ahead .
I suppose it's down to the numbers now .

Personally, speaking as a supposedly vulnerable oldie, I hope he succeeds.
Re: One Last State Of Alarm Extension Request
Discussions regarding an extension to 27 June (one month-ish) to the State of Alarm broke down today, but agreement has been reached on an extension for a further 15 days taking us to 7 June.
However, the government has maintained that it is essential that the State of Alarm remains in place during the de-escalation phases. Therefore, it is likely the government will need to request a further 15 day extension to the State of Alarm before it expires on 7 June.
So it looks like it will eventually be a one month-ish extension, but for political reasons it will be achieved through 2 extensions of 15 days.
