Torrevieja puts out to tender for 385,000 euros the improvement of access and security in Cala Piteras, Playa del Cura and Cabo Cervera
  • The base budget for the tender amounts to 385,492 euros, with the planned execution period being three months.
  • The actions will improve accessibility, safety and the general condition of the infrastructure in three of the main coastal areas of the municipality
The Local Governing Board of Torrevieja City Council approved this morning the tendering process for the adaptation and repair of various infrastructures on the municipality's beaches, specifically Cala Piteras, Playa del Cura, and Cabo Cervera. The aim is to improve the accessibility, safety, and functionality of these popular public spaces, which are frequented year-round. The base budget for the contract is €385,492.85 (including VAT), with an estimated completion time of three months, starting after the signing of the site handover report.

These actions are part of the municipal strategy for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Torrevieja coastline, ensuring that the beaches have modern, safe infrastructure adapted to the needs of its residents and visitors.

The works include a series of interventions mainly aimed at the repair and renovation of existing elements, as well as the installation of new infrastructure that will improve the public use of the beaches and their universal accessibility.

The general actions to be carried out include:
  • Repair and adaptation of pedestrian access
  • Installation and renovation of adapted ramps
  • Replacement and repair of railings
  • Improved security features
  • Upgrading infrastructure deteriorated by use and the passage of time
  • Improvement of accessibility conditions for people with reduced mobility
These interventions respond to the need to ensure that beaches maintain optimal conditions of safety, accessibility and conservation, especially in areas subject to intensive use during the tourist season.

CALA PITERAS: IMPROVED ACCESS AND SECURITY IN AN AREA OF SPECIAL SCENIC VALUE

In Cala Piteras, work will be carried out to improve access and safety features in this coastal area characterized by its natural environment and rocky configuration.

The planned actions will reinforce safety at the entrances to the cove, improve the stability and functionality of the existing ramps, renew railings and protective elements, as well as facilitate safe access for users in an area with specific geomorphological characteristics.

These improvements will help ensure a safer and more accessible experience for users of this cove, especially during the busiest months.

PLAYA DEL CURA: INFRASTRUCTURE RENEWAL AT ONE OF THE MOST EMBLEMATIC AND BUSY URBAN BEACHES

Playa del Cura, one of the most popular beaches in the city, will be the subject of actions aimed at maintaining the high level of quality and safety required by its high occupancy throughout the year.

The planned actions include the repair of access points and walkways, renovation of ramps and adapted elements, replacement of deteriorated railings, improvement of universal accessibility and adaptation of existing infrastructure.

CAPE CERVERA: UPGRADING FACILITIES AND IMPROVING ACCESSIBILITY ON THE NORTHERN COAST

In the Cabo Cervera area, actions will be carried out to improve the functionality of existing infrastructure and facilitate access for users in this enclave on the northern coast of Torrevieja.

The planned actions include repairing deteriorated structural elements, improving access and transit areas, installing new safety elements, and adapting infrastructure to current accessibility regulations.

MUNICIPAL COMMITMENT TO SAFETY AND UNIVERSAL ACCESSIBILITY

The Torrevieja City Council continues to advance in its commitment to improving public infrastructure and maintaining the coastline, focusing on actions that strengthen safety, universal accessibility and environmental sustainability.

The works will include social and environmental measures, such as the use of environmentally friendly materials and the possibility of promoting the hiring of people with difficulties accessing the labor market, in line with current regulations on public procurement.
