Ingredients

- 2 x 475 packet ready-rolled puff pastry, defrosted if frozen
- 4 - 5 tbsp pesto
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan
- 1 egg, beaten
- ½ tsp sesame seeds

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C Fan/Gas Mark 6. Unroll the first sheet of puff pastry, keeping it on the baking paper. Cut out a large Christmas tree shape and spread with the pesto. Sprinkle over the Parmesan.

2. Cover with the second sheet of puff pastry and cut this into the same shape as the first tree.

3. Cut thin strips horizontally along the sides, leaving a 'trunk' down the middle of the pastry. Twist the strips to form branches. Slide onto a baking sheet using the baking paper to help. Brush with the beaten egg. Scatter with the sesame seeds. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes until golden. Serve as a tear-and-shape appetiser or as a centrepiece with selection of party food.
