Little Bronson Battersby reportedly starved to death after his father had a fatal heart attack and the little mite was alone with his fathers body....RIP little fella.

Words escape me. This is a horror story and unbelievable that something like this can happen in this day and age. Many many questions to be asked and answered.
RIP lovely boy. You were badly let down by the people who should have protected you.

Such a tragedy, that poor child, too young to have any idea what to do other than stay with his dad. Lots of questions need answering.

No mention of the mother in any of the news reports other than to see she was heartbroken.

Apparently she has already given her story to the sun....she was separated from his father and she had not seen the boy since November and the new home she had been given was not safe for the boy (open staircase) so they agreed he should live with the dad.

This could easily happen again. There must be thousands of single parents living alone. Who would know if the parent died? Not everyone is neighbourly and many would not be missed. I am just surprised it has not happened before. We often hear stories of elderly people dying and not being found for days or weeks even.
I would need much more info before criticizing anyone.

I read the story and the tragedy for both the father and the little boy is just too horrific. I just couldn't stop crying at the thought of that little mite RIP to them both.

This is timeline of events and one wonders that if the police had acted when they were first informed, the outcome may have not been so tragic. But we will never know.

27 December A social worker "has contact" with Mr Battersby and a home visit is arranged.
2 January The social worker arrives at the property but there is no response at the door. She tries to locate Bronson at other addresses and unable to find him, speaks to her manager and the police.
4 January A second attempt at a home visit is made. Again, there is no response. The social worker informs police.
9 January A third attempt is made and the social worker alerts Mr Battersby's landlady. Entry is gained and the bodies of both father and son are found.
15 January Lincolnshire County Council notifies the national Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel of a serious incident that meets the criteria for rapid review.
17 January Lincolnshire County Council confirms a review is under way and Lincolnshire Police says it has referred itself to the IOPC.

But where was the mother all this time that she hadn't made contact or tried to make contact or gone to the property if she couldn't make contact to hammer the door down. Did the Social Services have no contact with her.
