no teletext
no teletext
Hi all,
Just bought a new toshiba smart tv. it's got bbc iplayer etc built in but I can't get bbc teletext?
it just comes up with " no teletext available."
I asked online and it says it should be available.
I like it for local weather etc.
Anybody any ideas?
TIA

Re: no teletext
Teletext is still available. I think it depends on the equipment that you have
This is through a Humax freesat box

Re: no teletext
that is not Teletext
United Kingdom: the founder of the world's first teletext service, the BBC, closed its Ceefax service in 2012 when Britain adopted a fully digital television broadcast system. The BBC maintains a Red Button service on digital TV which includes access to the latest text news; that text news service is accessible on the BBC News Channel and during BBC One newscasts. Plans to shut it down in 2020 were changed and a reduced service is planned into 2021.[29] Many channels on Sky still[when?] broadcast teletext subtitles and may still have a small number of active pages.[30] Analogue teletext ended in each region after analog broadcasts finished: see Digital switchover dates in the United Kingdom.
What has replaced Teletext?
Digital Text Services
This is the successor to Ceefax and Teletext, offering higher-quality images, a better level of interaction, and faster data rates. The new text service is available via the red button on your digital TV or set-top box's remote control.

Re: no teletext
Thanks all for your replies but I've just seen on the internet that newer tv's ( from 2020 onwards don't get it - due to bbc chnges, for some reason.)
I still get it on my older tv in the bedroom so that's why I was wondering why I couldn't access it on the new one?
