Pulled Pork Sliders

Takes: 10 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

- 360g packet BBQ pulled pork, cooked according to pack instructions and cooled
- 200g green or white cabbage, shredded
- 1 fennel bulb, very thinly sliced, leafy tops reserved
- 1 red apple, cored and shredded
- 1 red onion, very thinly sliced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 4 soft bread rolls, split
- Lemon wedges, to garnish

Method

1. Mix the barbecue sauce provided in the packet with the pulled pork.

2. Place the cabbage, fennel, apple, red onion, lemon juice and some salt and pepper in a bowl. Toss to combine.

3. Fill the rolls with the apple slaw and the pulled pork. Garnish with the leafy fennel tops and serve with lemon wedges..

Very good question Fred.

This was a recipe from a New Zealand publication last July and I simply used the same heading for convenience.

I had always thought of a slider as a type of footwear, not something that you would consume. Even when you Google "sliders" it can be something you wear or eat, but even when it is something you eat they call it a sandwich but it is using rolls as opposed to slices of bread.

"Sliders" appears to be another Amercian language term creeping into other continents. I have just done a quick Google search for Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa, and a few restaurants/bars now have "sliders" listed on their menus, so it looks like that term has already got itself established at least in the tourist areas.
