The Councilor for Festivities of the City of Torrevieja, Rosario Martínez, reports that the pyro-musical castle of San Juan, scheduled tomorrow, Friday, June 23, at 23:00 p.m., in the natural pools of the Paseo Marítimo Juan Aparicio, has been suspended due to the appeal registered in the Central Administrative Court of Contractual Appeals (TACRC) by a company that had submitted to the tender for contracting the pyrotechnics service, against the award of LOT 1 of the file "Fireworks shooting on the occasion of the celebration of various festivities".

For this reason, says Rosario Martínez, it has not been possible to sign the contract, as planned to do so, and there is no material time to make a new contract for this fireworks show.

Finally, the mayor of Fiestas has indicated that, at the moment in which the appeal of the TACRC is resolved, an alternative date will be sought so that citizens can enjoy this pyro-musical castle in the natural pools of the Paseo Marítimo Juan Aparicio.

FIREWORKS & FIRES TONIGHT FRIDAY 23RD JUNE Night of San Juan 2023 on the beaches of Torrevieja. The night of San Juan 2023, will be celebrated in Torrevieja with the traditional bonfires on the beach. On the eve of the night of San Juan, hundreds of people gather on the beaches of Torrevieja to celebrate a purifying ritual that consists of lighting a bonfire in the sand of Torrevieja beach and jump on it, in order to get rid of everything bad that has happened to us during the year. Afterwards, the ceremony ends by putting your feet in the water for a short time to receive the full force of the sea. On which beaches in Torrevieja is the night of San Juan celebrated with bonfires? La Mata Beach, Playa del cura beach, Los Locos Beach, Beach of the Castaways Naufragos beach . On the night of Friday, June 23, at 11:30 p.m., a fireworks display is usually fired accompanied by music (pyromusical show) from the natural pools of the Juan Aparicio promenade in Torrevieja. Access to the beaches of Torrevieja, will be controlled by the security forces, to prevent the use of wood that can leave hazardous waste in the sand. The City Council will distribute 15,000 kilos of pine wood (which leaves hardly any residue) for people who want to make bonfires on each of the city’s beaches. This is how the pagan ritual was assimilated by the Christian tradition, and took deep root in many places, including the Iberian Peninsula. The tradition of lighting bonfires on the night of June 23 has survived intact to this day. That magical night has somehow become paganized again since the bonfires symbolize the arrival of summer and the beginning of many of the long-awaited vacations. But the night of the fire is not the same in all areas of Spain.
