Harry Kane
Harry Kane, 267 goals, a record for Tottenham Hotspur. World class striker, no doubt.
For all that effort he has not won a single trophy. 30 in July, time to move on to a bigger club?

Re: Harry Kane
As they say records are there to be broken. Was wondering though whether it is easier for players to break clubs records these days ? They play more club competitive matches in a season than they use too in the the days of Jimmy Greaves for instance.
Personally I cannot see Harry Kane leaving THFC, he seems to be what I would call a "homely" footballer - finds a club to call home and is then loyal too it. Not sure HK has ever shown any interest in bettering himself elsewhere, or even pursuing a cabinet of football trophies like other players. As Gareth Bale has proven the grass is not always greener on the otherside when moving to a bigger club ie Real Madrid.

I think HK was linked with a move to Man C a couple of years ago and his nose was put well out of joint when the deal was not completed. There was, I believe a period where he did not turn up for training.Carl wrote: 06 Feb 2023 09:10 As they say records are there to be broken. Gareth Bale won many trophies with Real Madrid. He had a six year contract which paid him a reputed £600,000 per week. Things went sour for him when the Real Madrid president stopped him moving to China in a deal worth a reputed £1M pound per week.
Bale’s response was to sit out his contract with Real Madrid and his attitude was, don’t pick me to play football, I’ll just play golf instead, as he did very well at Pebble Beach during last week. I’m not sure Bale would see his time at Real as anything other than green grass.
HK actually made 36 appearances more than the late great Jimmy Greaves, in equalling his record and surpassed it on Sunday in 37 more appearances.

From what I read about GB in the Spanish press he really struggled to integrate with his team mates and would decline to socialise with them outside of training, and instead choose to play golf or stay at home whilst his team mates met up for meals. Personal circumstances can influence a players performance and commitment, and once the interest wains then so does motivation to perform.
GB probably would have seen out his career at Real Madrid, but once you lose the support of your club and fans you have little choice but to do what is necessary to instigate a move. Sadly I think Bales injuries added to his demise, just as he got back to full fitness he would get injured again.

Re: Harry Kane
That’s the point, Gareth Bale did not instigate a move, he sat tight until he’d completed every day of his contract, though he was loaned to Spurs on full wages for the penultimate year of his contract. Spurs paid £20m pound, a small percentage of his wages from Real, plus loan fees for that one season. He must be one of the richest players ever to have played the game. A tremendous player in his prime and the scorer of one of the greatest goals ever scored in a Champions League final.Carl wrote: 06 Feb 2023 22:24I need to read up on HK more.Brian Deacon wrote: 06 Feb 2023 10:18I think HK was linked with a move to Man C a couple of years ago and his nose was put well out of joint when the deal was not completed. As you say, the last couple of years of his career were blighted by injury. I think his retirement was inevitable once he’d been to the World Cup with Wales.

Re: Harry Kane
Kane is probably on in excess of 200k per week,i'm not convinced that when he looks back at the end of his career he would trade that for a Carabao cup....He'll very soon be Englands all time record goalscorer,he's already Spurs record goalscorer,he could well be the premier leagues second highest scorer by the end of this season,he already has 3 premier league golden boots and 1 world cup golden boot and as Benzema proved last night V Liverpool players can still be at the top level into their mid thirties.....So i'm happy to wait until the end of his career to see what Harry Kane achieves.

Re: Harry Kane
Well, after Spurs’ capitulation in the Champions League last night, I think it must now be odds on that Kane will leave, He could probably pocket in excess of £400K per week AND the chance of picking up a trophy or two, if he moves. As Glenn Hoddle said on TV last night, Spurs lack quality and need a complete rebuild. Harry hasn’t got the time to stick around for that.
