I can't remember seeing this in the local press, but on the 27 February the air base suffered their third fatal crash, 4th death, in 6 months after one of their planes crashed into the sea off the Mar Menor. The latest death was a pilot in the Patrualla Aguila.
What makes this even more sad is that this pilot had only been given the solo pilot position in the Patrulla Aguila in September of last year following the death of the then solo pilot in a similar accident in August.

Re: San Javier Air Force Base - Third Fatal Crash In 6 Months
..evidence suggests too many deaths during the second world war were from training flights..
...San Javier is a training establishment and home of a display team...could there be pilot error?
..let the investigation take it's course....
