Travelling Spain to UK by train

As there was a bit of interest about this journey on the Gatwick topic

Well I was just browsing through a few travel websites and came across a First Class ticket for €65, Barcelona to Paris in October on the SNCF site, plus €6 in reservation fees. Total €71 Couldn't resist it :D

Leave Barcelona at 8:15, Arrive Lyon Part Dieu 13:20
Time for a bit of lunch
Depart Lyon Part Dieu 15:45, Arrive Paris 17.50

Looks like ticket for Alicante to Barcelona can be had for €33 when booked in advance. Eurostar ticket is a bit of a kicker at £90.
Might look at flying from Paris to Gatwick

Opted to spend 2 nights in Barcelona to see some of the sights, instead of just passing through. Hotel in Barcelona for 2 night €98.

All I've got to do now is fly back to Spain to catch the train

My Wife is in Edinburgh at the moment with our son, the hotels are mainly full up there at the moment but she is staying with him. Moving on, train ticket price for last minute was hundreds one way, coach from Victoria £27 with seat booked. If you want really low prices, a coach will take longer but might be cheaper? I did once have a bet with someone at work with who get get the lowest price hotel for night away at work, I won but what a hell hole! I think it was £17! Park off a dual carriageway, pitch black, everything was 30 years old.

Are the prices with a Gold Dorada card or not

No discount cards used. Just stated that I'm over 60.

Just had a quick look at the SNCF site, the next best I can find is for 25th October for €76.10. Part First class and part Second class.

It was very hard to find a hotel in Barcelona with a private bathroom for €49 per night, especially over 2 nights. Ended up doing 2 separate bookings!!!

Trouble with having to book at the last minute. Just happened to be wasting a bit of time and looked at the SNCF site and grabbed it at that price. Have wanted to try it for years by train. Have done London to the south of France in my younger days by coach, but the benefit of being able to get up for a walk on the train beats the coach.
Stayed in some rough places on my travels, one of them was straight out of "Allo Allo"
