Pear & Ginger Crumble With Custard (less than €1 per serving)

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Serves: 6

If served as six portions, provides 604 cals, 44g fat (of which 17g saturates), 50g sugar and 0.6g salt per portion.

Ingredients

- 200g (7oz) plain flour
- 35g (1¼oz) oats
- 170g (6oz) butter
- 3 tsp ginger
- 170g (6oz) sugar
- 1.2kg (42oz) tinned pears in syrup
- 2 level tsp cornflour
- 500g (1lb 2oz) of ready to eat custard

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 190°C/Fan 170°C/Gas Mark 5. Grease a medium ovenproof dish with butter.

2. In a bowl, add the flour, oats, butter and 1 tsp of the ginger. Using your hands, rub it together until crumbly. Add in the sugar and mix it together well.

3. Drain and slice the pears, put the syrup into a saucepan, add the remaining ginger and put the pear into an ovenproof dish.

4. Mix the cornflour with a little of the pear syrup, tip into the pan and simmer until thickened. Pour over the pears.

5. Spoon the crumble mixture over the pears and bake for 30 minutes.

6. Serve with custard.
