Local Free Newspapers - The Post And The Weekender

The Post (Wednesday publication) and The Weekender (Friday publication) are "joining forces" from next week with the launch of the The Weekly Post. The Weekly Post will be available on Wednesday.

Over the years the area has had some good free papers. Some which are still in print and others which have disappeared.

I think Euro Weekly News (Thursday publication) took over the Sol Times and Round Town News (RTN), with both those papers eventually disappearing. There use to be a paper called The Informer that I have not seen for sometime now, although it mainly covered the Costa Calida area.

The Leader (Monday publication) and Costa Blanca People (Tueday publication - previously known as Coastrider) still seem to be going strong.

Sadly the quantity of each publication being produced has gradually reduced, with some distribution points now no longer having the publications visable on display and you have to ask for a copy.

And of course we now have a new free paper in the region, Sunshine News which is affiliated to Sunshine FM.

..not really a newspaper, but a free monthly issue is the excellent Dream Hills Scene! Full of jokes ,cartoons, local business ads and topical articles.

Always pick up a copy at start of the month from The Lime Bar...but have to be quick...everybody wants one!!

The good thing is that most of the free newspapers can be read online now.

I agree you can't beat the real thing but you have to make the best of things nowadays.
