Re: wise direct debits
It is true, its been around for a couple of years
Its for new customers only and you have to live in Spain. So if you already have an account with them, or you don't live in Spain (resident?), its a no go.

Re: wise direct debits
I think I may still have a problem with my wise account direct debits. It seems there's not enough numbers in the IBAN ???

The Spanish IBAN includes the full 8 digit individuals account number, the Belgium one does not, that is all

Thanks freddo,
when I first put my wise iban in on iberdrola website, it said below it ( in red letters ) not enough numbers? ) I'm out next week and am going into water, electric, suma, etc offices to make sure it's ok. That'll keep me away from the pub/menu del dias for a wee while!!!!

Update.
I went into iberdrola office in lazenia with passport and nie paper. changed in 5 minutes. Hydraqua sent me a direct debit form to fill in, took it to their office at playa flamenca - with passport, nie. again no problem. my urb admin said they can't take it because it's not a spanish bank account? I wil pay that with my credit card over the phone when it's due. went to the suma at playa flamenca but there was a big queue, so will change it next time I'm out - or just pay it with credit card over the phone.
BUT.... it gave me great pleasure to close that bankia account! it was nothing but trouble, every time we were out there was something wrong, and they were charging me for the trouble!

It's very satisfying to close a Spanish bank account.dave c wrote: 17 Nov 2021 12:46 Update.

No more silly charges, and no more having to put up with shrugging shoulders.
Well done

Re: wise direct debits
My Wife has a debit card that arrived Saturday. It is for when she goes to South America next Feb or March. Do you just add money to your account then spend it or reading their web site she could hold money in the local currency now. I also see she has to put the pin number in at a shop to.activate it. I was.wondering what the 'top up' or process is to add funds, I was about to add.koney but it was stating transfer etc, just probably has different terminology to what I have in my mind.
Re: wise direct debits
You have to do a bank transfer from your/wife's bank into your wise account. Its the only way to add money to a Wise account, you can't add money any other way. I personally convert a chunk of money to local currency before travelling
