Looking to buy a place in Torreveija early in 2020 what are the best areas and are there any areas to be avoided ?
Also how is the public transport ?

This is a bit of a "how long is a price of string." question.
Depends on many things it would help if we get some idea of your likes and dislikes.
My adviçe would be to spend some time in the area in a rental to get a feel for the area as a whole and go.grom.thete.

As Stowie says, too many variables here, but public transport is pretty good and cheap.

Your budget will also determine where to look but rentals are so cheap if you have time on your hands. Don't use the solicitor of the estate agent.

Thanks for the replies folks should have said it was a holiday home we intend buying and have seen a property we like in an area called La Siesta, is this a nice area I see there is a bus service from there into Torrevieja

Sorry I don't anything about that area. There is a huge stock of properties for resale, it's worth taking your time to look around a few different areas.

I think what we mean is you have a range of options. From ultra modern to traditional Villamartin build. From flat to house. From expat dominated to Spanish and cosmopolitan in between. From well connected to local transport to needing a car. It also depends on whether you are sporty and cycle/walk or if you prefer to go by transport for everything.
My tips are to make sure you have a supermarket locally, a commercial centre of restaurants locally, a well run community (if buying in a community) and that every exterior stair is an obstacle over which you have to lug your heavy shopping bags. Oh, and south facing. North faces live on their solariums, south faces live on their verandahs.

Mr Media is correct..
Location location location..
You might want to check if a property is close to a bar.. might sound fun, but if they have loud music on, or noisy drunks passing (!) your window returning home late at night it might not be fun for long..
Up on a hill can be problematic if you have to walk up it in 40 degrees heat in summer...
Overlooking a pool seems fun too... but it can get really noisy in summer..
make sure the house is not next to a slaughter house, a brothel, a smelly pig farm...
... you should be searching the internet and emailing agents right now..They will make a lot of money out of you... make sure they earn it..ask them the locations of houses and use Google earth to see what`s round the corner..
There are super properties out there.. enjoy the ride..
