Not exactly a Road Trip..

Recently my best friend and I went to a concert. We went to see The Who on what we figured could be their final tour. They were scheduled to play one date in UK but the ticket prices (Wembley) were horrendous so we decided to 'Bucket List' it.
We bagged a pair of tickets for the show at the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles. Oddly, in the end it didn't cost out at much more than a trip to London (work that one out) but... You can't really put a price on that kind of experience



Worth every penny.

Incidentally, LA is massive. I don't think we were totally prepared for just how massive it is and in common with most other things American, once you get past the grumpy surly jobsworthy airport type people the ordinary Angelinos are absolutely delightful. The city's not bad either.


... and yes, I know they've announced part 2 of the tour now and they're playing Manchester in March 2020 (got tickets) but at least that's ony 11 miles away not 11,000 mile round trip.

Apparently Pete Townsend didn't like the Who...can you believe, and even now him and Roger have separate backstage areas!
Still. they used to have punch-ups in the van in the sixties, (roger always won), so it can be expected!

Great group, makes you proud to be British...the Yanks love(d) them, and my favourite is "won't get fooled again!"

The late John Entwistle (aka "Thunder fingers") has to be one of the best Bass players of all time .
I never saw The Who live , but watching him on t.v. and video , from his right hand knuckles downwards, was just a blur .
What a guy .
I can only dream of playing half as fast as his fingers did.
