Leishmaniasis

Hi Everyone
Just wondering what people use to protect their dogs against Leishmaniasis as my dog is allergic to the collars that you get. They leave a nasty sore rash around her neck. Any advice would be much appreciated.

When we are in Spain with our dogs we use Advantix and Advocate. It's not cheap but imo worth it.

Scalibor collars are the best, lasts 6 months. But as your dogs are allergic, check with your vet, to see if there is a vaccine for prevention of Leishmania. I seem to remember there was some years ago.

Our dog is allergic to scalibor,she started to act very strangely when wearing it,we rushed her to vets and he told us that some dogs have a reaction to it we now use Advantix no problems.

I have just obtained a prescription here in the UK from my vet for Advantix. I had to pay for the prescription but then I can upload it and use petdrugsonline to buy it. Not sure if you could do the same from Spain, but it is definitely a lot cheaper
