A while I had ordered an item from the UK and the company had emailed me to say that the item had been dispatched by Royal Mail but there was no tracking number even though the email said that it could be tracked.
I called the company and they confirmed that there was no tracking number so I just waited for it to arrive by Correos, fully aware that under the circumstances there could be a delay.
A short while later I received an email from the company asking if I was happy with the product, a pair of slippers for my wife. I replied that I had not received the item yet, to which I received a further email apologising for the delay and on checking said they could not find my order because it had disappeared from their system and therefore a new pair of slippers would be dispatched immediately.
I received a email the next day saying that the item has now been dispatched and there was now a tracking number which indeed there was .. but no sooner had I read the email when the doorbell went and there was Herman the postie with my wifes slippers !!!
I then called the company to tell them that had arrived in the end, but they said not to bother returning them and keep them as gesture of goodwill.
Now that is not the end of the saga of my wife's new slippers.
This week I received a letter from customs in Madrid and enclosed was a customs form to fill in, which I duly did, assuming that this was going to be the case now every time I receive a package from the UK.
So I filled in said custom declaration and popped down to post office to post it ..
Within hours, there was ring at the door and there was Herman the postie again... you've guessed it ....with my wifes slippers..
