Ingredients
- 500g packet bread mix
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 6 pork sausages, casings removed, and flesh chopped
- 2 x 415g can baked beans, in sauce of choice (for a calzone with spicier taste - try Tikka or Jalfrezi)
- Flour, for dusting
- 100g Cheddar, roughly grated
- 1 egg, beaten
Method
1. Prepare the bread mix according to the pack instructions, then prove the dough until doubled in size.
2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Cook the sausages for 8 minutes. Stir in the baked beans, then remove the pan from heat.
3. Preheat the oven to 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas Mark 6. Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto lightly floured surface. Divide it into 8 pieces. Roll each piece out into an 18cm circle. Place the filling on one side of each circle and sprinkle with the Cheddar. Brush the edge with the egg, then fold the dough over to enclose. Pinch the edges together, then transfer the pasties to the tray.
4. Brush the calzone tops with the egg. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes, until golden. Serve with mixed salad, if liked.
