'The action of the wind, which has blown today with gusts of more than 80 km/h, stirs the water of the salted lagoon of Torrevieja and, on the shores, this characteristic white foam appears.
The foam is formed because the water of the Torrevieja lagoon contains salts and natural organic matter (remains of algae, microorganisms and organic compounds). When water moves forcefully, these substances reduce surface tension, trapping air in the form of tiny bubbles that accumulate and create foam.
It's not pollution or soap: it's a natural physical process, similar to what happens in the sea when there's a ripple.'
