Torrevieja name change

I I've been reading on various forums about Torrevieja now using it's Vallencian name "Torrevella"
It's seems Googles gone along with it.

It is bit of a pain at times. When I was in Valencia , we had trouble finding the tourist office as the name of the road started in one language, and then changed part of the way down to the other language, then back again to the other language further down.

No there has been no name change to Valenciano for Torrevieja. I always understood that Valenciano country historically stopped at Guardamar. I haven't heard of them changing from Castellano either. Perhaps Google jumped the gun. I am sure there would have been a hot and heavy debate at Torrevieja Ayuntamiento level if such a name change was to be implemented.
