Not being on the Padrón I don't know what's meant by renewal. If you go to the cyber kiosc in the foyer of the Ayuntamiento and print off a copy of your Padrón Cert does that show you are still actively on the Padrón?

If you're not on the Padron, then you're not on the Padron because your main residence isn't in Torrevieja. ;)

Gone back to the Facebook post, these are the questions posed by commentators on the post and answers from Gitte Lund Thomsen.

Q: Do we still get a letter through the post to tell us to renew this after the 5 years?

A: Yes, they are sending letters and also using staff from town hall, the so called " notificadores". But there are problems with mail delivery and when staff come from town hall sometimes people do not want to open door or are abroad, so a good idea to make sure to check yourselves.

Q: So if you don't confirm they withdraw your residence?

A: Residencia has to do with Policía Nacional and is not withdrawn unless you do something really bad. But if you do not confirm your padrón then your asignation to the health centre is lost. In Spain any urgency is always attented, but to get asigned GP and to receive general treatment you need padrón.

Q: How to confirm? Is a cita previa needed for it?

A: If you receive a letter asking for confirmation then you can go to censo office in Calle Unión Musical Torrevejense 22 without prior appointment with letter and ID. Also confirmación can be made online with digital signature.

The following question, if answered, may have addressed Bee's post to some extent.

Q: I print a copy of my Padron every six months using my Clave. Would I be correct in saying because I do this, I would not receive a notification?

Bee said she's not on the Padron which is correct because her main residence is not in Spain. So how can she print a copy of it if it doesn't exist.

If Bee is in Torrevieja for more than 90 days per Year, then she should be on the padron according to the following website. I thought one had to be a permanent resident?

https://www.coolcasas.net/blog/why-is-t ... orrevieja/

Who Needs the Padron in Torrevieja?
Anyone living in Torrevieja for more than 90 days per year — whether renting or owning — should register on the Padron.

How Often Must You Renew the Padron?
EU citizens: Every 5 years
Non-EU citizens: Every 2 years

I know I am not on the Padrón so to make it simple for those who are on the Padrón and needing to verify their status I was asking if "they" print off a copy of their Padrón does that suffice as proof of being on the Padrón or is their some Modelo or other that has to be completed. Over to you BB as you are on the Padrón how do you confirm you are still living full-time in Torrevieja every 5 years.

Yes Carl the last question on your post is the same one as I am asking. Unfortunately it doesn't have an answer yet.

Hi Bee. I misread your original question and the answer is yes and I'm sure you can print a certificate instantly if you have your details. .

I've never had to confirm or renew my Padron. As far as I was aware the only time you need to renew or confirm your Padron is if you change your address or need it for an
official procedure such applying for TIE and suchlike. When we renew our 10 year permenant TIE's in 2031 we don't need to produce a Padron unless our address has changed.

And the term' long term residence' only applies to EU Nationals, of which I am not.

We have an envelope in out safe with 'Padrons for Life 21 /1 / 22 in my wifes handwriting. We had these done at the Excemo Auntamiento in Union Musical Torrevejense.

I can't remember why we had new Pardrons on that date because we had new ten year TIE's in September 2021 and what Pardrons we presented to the Police in Alicante then
were accepted. My wife can't remember why as well, but she rememebers distinctly that an official told her that they are for life and if you change address you must get a an updated Padron.

This is from https://www.immigrationspain.es/en/empa ... gistration

When you should renew your padron certificate?
This point is very important. Generally speaking, it is NOT necessary to renew the padrón.

However, there is an exception. Foreigners from outside the European Union who live in Spain and do so WITHOUT permanent residence must renew their empadronamiento every 2 years, counting from the date of the initial registration.

This is fundamental, since in case of not doing so, the city hall would process the cancellation of the padrón.

Therefore:

If you are a non-EU foreigner with a temporary residence card, you must renew the padrón every 2 years
If you are a EU citizen, have permanent residence, or have obtained Spanish nationality, you should NOT renew your census registration

From the CAB website ...

Q. I am an EU citizen, do I have to update my Padron registration?

A. EU/EEA citizens and their non-EU family members registered on the central register of foreigners do not have the obligation to renew their registration. Verification can be carried out by the town hall to keep the register up-to-date in which ever way they wish to do so.
