As he had tested positive from coronavirus, why was he not re-tested at the end of his 15 day isolation period before he went back out in public ?

Was he possibly all clear after the 15 day isolation period, but got re-infected ? I guess we will never know as he wasn't tested before leaving his 15 day isolation.

Between 12 April and early May he had his grandchildren stay for 10 days ?

I did see on TV that your body can still bring up some virus after a while from your lungs but it would not mean you have been reinfected, just never left.

Sounds like those who tested positive should be retested prior to leaving self-isolation and going out in public.

All sounds a bit odd - I wonder where those grandchildren came from, in this time of lockdown?

It's a good possibility that these are further examples of the inaccuracies of these tests. There's a good chance one or more of these were false positives. The mantra of test, test, test relies on the efficiency of the tests. Luckily the new antibody tests are far more accurate.

As I was watching France 24 this morning, there was something about some of their sailors testing positive again, scrolling across the bottom of the screen.

It is quite normal seemingly to test positive again but it is a false positive it is just the body getting rid of the virus as has been stated. It has also been reported that children get a very mild dose of the virus if they get infected and they are not little germ bombs as the public have been led to believe and they shouldn't be kept away from their grandparents.

That's not quite the case in my experience. My eight year old Grandson came down with the virus the first day the schools were closed. and was extremely unwell, this was followed with secondary breathing difficulties, he is only now, eight weeks later, able to run and play as normal. Slightly fortunate that his Mother is a GP so he received really good care at home.

The thing I find strange, and perhaps supports the "germ bomb" thought is that he did not infect anyone else in the household. My daughter in law now gets tested as a matter of routine twice a week.

Interesting. Was he tested for COVID-19? Whats was the result(s)?

Not tested but as his Mother is a practising GP fairly confident of the diagnosis
