Has anyone succeeded in applying for a Cl@ve digital certificate using the video call method (as opposed to visiting SUMA)? I am not a resident and have an extranjero NIE.

After some trial and error the website Agencia Tributaria eventually accepted my NIE (excluding the initial X, and removing a hyphen), but would not accept the date on the NIE (veintiseis de abril de dos mil veintiuno - 21/04/2021). The message is "Incorrect date. It introduces again the date"? I can only assume it doesn't like my NIE? Perhaps extranjeros cannot use this application method, though it doesn't say? Either way, it's an appalling website, not user friendly at all!

Not sure is it a typo on your part but veintiseis is 26th.
Yes they make everything so complicated and not a bit user friendly.

Sorry, yes it was a typo! Just to double check I've tried again with the same result, though if I leave website language as Spanish and use Google translate, the error message is better: "Incorrect date. Please enter the date again". The same if I use the date picker, so not a date format issue. I suspect it's actually the NIE and date not matching, and that a non-resident NIE can't be used. Oh well, I don't desperately need a Cl@ve.

Never knew that the NIE was different for a non resident Mine starts with X and I am a resident from the date I came to Spain

dO NOT ENTER THE HYPHEN AFTER THE x i HAVE JUST COMPLETED THE APPLICATION NO PROBLEM

Mine starts with an X and ends with a H. No hyphen tho. Or is it start with XH not too sure. I have it saved in contacts so the letters go to name and the numbers go with phone no!

No. The AgeInSpain link is for an application followed by an interview at the SUMA. The following explains how to apply and then an interview by ZOOM:

I don't know where I got that from? I do know that my certificate says "Que al ciudadano/a extranjero/a que a continuación se indica, le consta en el Registro Central de Extranjeros de la Dirección General de la Policía, el Número de Identidad de Extranjero (N.I.E.) que así mismo se refleja."

Which I believe is "That the foreign citizen indicated below has the Foreigner Identity Number (N.I.E.) listed below in the Central Registry of Foreigners of the General Directorate of Police."

I don't know what I've done differently but it is now asking for a supporting number "Enter the supporting number of your foreigner's card, residence permit or EU citizen certificate." There is no number other than an obscure 077 near the top of the page but this doesn't work.

Should be on top right of page if green A4 page
