Just wondering whether someone has done this for a friend or family member.

Am I correct in assuming that you first have to add their details on the Registro Electrónico de Apoderamientos (REA) here:

It's not something that has ever crossed my path but I assume you would have to have some kind of registered legal Power of Attorney in place that identifies you as acting for the person. This came up from dgt if it makes it any clearer.

Thank you for that Bee. I will take a look.

Quick update. I got so far, and have paused for now.

It would appear that the departments within Government have different requirements when granting 'Power of Attorney' for their specific department.

Via the DGT link provided by Bee you could set up delegation of responsibilities to someone else quite easily and quickly on that website, and just required the other persons NIE details. The delegation was called 'Power of Attorney'.

The Registro Electrónico de Apoderamientos (REA) requires you have an FNMT Electronic Citizen Certificate (Certificado Electrónico de Ciudadano) for the 'Power of Attorney', that requires the installation of FNMT-RCM configuration software. During the configuration of the software it checked that an electronic signature was present, but whilst I already had Cl@ve installed, FNMT requires AutoFirma. So installed AutoFirma.

I have now completed the initial stage of registering for the FNMT certificate, the submission of NIE details plus setting a password. I believe the next stage is personal verification.

Yes it was bad enough just getting a Cl@ve for myself.
