The collection of household items (furniture) left at the side of the streets has been suspended until further notice. The suspension is the result of an increase in items disposed on the streets during the 'lockdown' and the increased risk to the refuse collection workers.
In compliance with the measures of the State of Alarm the Mayor of Orihuela has asked people to 'refrain from leaving belongings on the public highway ....' - sounds like you are liable to a fine if caught leaving household items on the street.
As a resident on the Orihuela Costa I doubt if there is actually an increase in household items disposed on the streets, its just that due to the 'lockdown' the white van men who usually roam the streets collecting the majority of the those items are unable to do so and the household items are beginning to pile up.
