Some of this teachers observations seem tongue in cheek, whilst some could be seen as being an accurate reflection.

His take on the Spanish is interesting. I do sense that perhaps this latest generation in Spain want to be more decisive and take control - I suppose you could say it is a move away from the mañana generations. The latest generation seem more direct in how they deal with people and sharp with the tongue, particularly tourists I have noted. Maybe Spaniards have simply grown in confidence to be more self-sufficient, after the lates 2010s where they were heavily reliant on the EU or foreign investors/visitors to support the economy ?

His comment about Spaniards using their phone loudspeaker I am sure is global issue no matter what nationality, but it did remind me of being in a busy Zenia Boulevard a few weeks back. A rather rotund Spanish gentleman was propped up against a wall having a conversation using his phone's loudspeaker with the volume set extremely high - an expletive from the other end was discharged as if it was being broadcast to the nation - everyone turned to look at the man, and he just carried without a care in the world about the colourful language which was in earshot of many childrend - may be this comes back to the paragraph above, and Spaniards growing in confidence

It's not the Spain that I recognise, particularly in Torrevieja where I live or the places where I choose to visit, including restaurants etc.

That's why we never visit Benidorm ..Brits behaving badly.

When we moved her 25 years we made a conscious decision not to live amongst the Brits, a decision that we have never regretted.
