DANA Warning - Tomorrow & Sunday

Strong winds and rain are expected to hit the area Saturday through Sunday, and depending on what Spanish website you read it could be as bad as or worse than the DANA that caused problems in the region in 2019, that brought down trees, caused widespread flooding and washed away cars. The worst of the storms are expected to be off the coast of Torrevieja.

Perhaps somewhat coincidental in timing, Informacion.es and other outlets were reporting 2 days ago on the progress being made on the flood drainage pool under construction next to the N332 in the Dona Ines area of Torrevieja. Unfortunately it is not due for completion until the end of the year, so the rain due in the next couple of days comes too early to test its capabilities - just have to hope the heavy rains predicted this weekend do not undo the work already carried out on the site.

Well if the El Tiempo weather site is anything to go by, they are predicting 2 mm rain tomorrow and 22 mm on Sunday but it doesn't quite match their graphics

Checked this morning and since your post El Tiempo have slightly increased today's forecasted rain to 6mm, but have more than doubled the figure for tomorrow raising it to 48mm.

The weather sites seem consistent that something will hit the area today/tomorrow, just cannot agree on to what degree.

Nothing yet according to the el tiempo/proyecto Mastral website. Nice sunshine but the crowds have gone home. There was a mass exit from our Urb since the weekend.

I thought the Met people wern't sure which way the weather would swing whether it would head towards the Atlantic or the Med.

Well whatever happens a lot restaurants have made alternative arrangements for customers seated on uncovered outside terraces.

Some have managed to move some tables inside but other customers, us included have been notified that their reservation has been cancelled with an option to book another date.

Where I live it's wall to wall sunshine without a cloud in the sky although we woke up this morning to heavy cloud and some light rain.

The prediction is still for a Dana to arrive tonight and heavy rain tomorrow but I would think that some restaurant owners would be pretty pissed off if i doesn't rain tonight after cancelling a lot of bookings.

Thankfully the area escaped the worst of the rain over the weekend, probably more inconvenience in the end was caused by the strong gusty winds throughout yesterday and overnight.

We were lucky this time - very bad in some other parts of Spain however.

Water level in the port rose apparently 40cm yesterday raising the Tabarca ferry to the same level as the cars in the car park.
