As UK visitors, with an NIe, was just wondering what docs we are required when out and about here in Spain. I know when driving it's licence and passport but not sure at other times.

You do need to carry a passport or a certified copy at all times as that is the only proof of identification you will have as a tourist that is acceptable to the Guardia and local police

I do not carry my passport when I'm out, and the only time when I was stopped (during lockdown) my Uk driving licence was good enough.

And according to this article on the N332 face book page, It's not a requirement.

I am out of date apologies

I have never carried an ID document when out and about in Spain over the last nearly 26 years. Nor have I ever been stopped and asked for one by the Policia during that time.

I suspect that this will be open to interpretation by whomever stops you, and if they had got out of the side of bed (as the saying goes) before their shift.

I have a photo of both my passport and driving licence on my phone, just in case I forget to take any other ID with me when out.

I have been stopped a few times and DL was ok. I have only been stopped in the middle of nowhere but I have seen the police pulling people over on the way to Villamartin this year so I always take my wallet.

My son was stopped whilst driving an Irish car, he produced, his driving license, and they asked, did he have a passport ?, he is English but lives/works in Ireland so has a UK passport, they seemed confused and unhappy that his driving license didn't match the country of his passport. He was fortunate, that the email confirmation of his ferry bookings, (well within his 90/180 days) agreed with what he told them, and on his way he went.
Has anyone else been asked to prove how long they have been in Spain?
