Women's Vuelta de Espana Race starts today from Torrevieja

I didn't see any publicity about the Women's Vuelta de Espana Inaugural Race which starts from Torrevieja today 1st May with a time trial around the town. There was a fiesta yesterday on Paseo Juan Aparicio. I saw all the barriers up on the webcam from Los Locos and was wondering what they were about.

Time trial of 14.5kms starts today at the Sports Centre at around 12h00

Caused total chaos! Shocking organisation. Road closures all over the place with apparently very little coordination or signage for motorists.

There was a fiesta yesterday on Paseo Juan Aparicio. I saw all the barriers up on the webcam from Los Locos and was wondering what they were about.

I did not attend Bee, but as I understand it on Paseo Juan Aparicio there was some temporary food stalls and seating area with a cordon around that had attracted long queues, and at the same time just a short distance away on a large stage the cycling teams were being introduced to the public. The area was extremely busy apparently. Whether the food and the cycling was connected or were independent I do not know. I was also told there a very heavy police presence.
