In the UK I have been closing the windows and putting a jumper on but in Spain the weather is perfect, this is inside my apartment:

The winters are shorter in Spain aren't they, I didn't buy a pellet burner as I am not here in the winter and also thought with a warranty period I would buy it when I will be here in the winter but I can imagine with a pellet burner going, my a/c for the summer, good food, maybe a cat here to top it off, what more would you need out of life! Red wine? Ha ha.

Although I could probably leave the UK now it would not be for many years yet so not sure if the 'leopard' would still be around but I must say I have been feeling at times that the rat race has been driving me mad for about 2 years. Add some troubled foster kids on top of your day job and ... Say no more but on a good news story I did drop one ex foster kid off to his Uni last Sunday, I could see he was intelligent the moment I met him but I don't think anyone has told him that, he arrived with me at 15 yes old, after 6 months to sort his mind out he had one year to go but done well, just above average after.only.one year.of putting effort in, but then went on to perform several miracles over the next two years and got top grades, off to a good uni. One less off the dole queue!

When we were thinking of retiring to Spain we got out our pencils and paper and lots of projections from our pension providers and from the UK government.

We found out that if we continued working for another 5 years and kept paying in to our pensions we would get another 20 pounds a month pension.

Needless to say we upped sticks 12 years ago, moved to Spain and boy, we are delighted we did our homework.

Yes we looked at our pension forcasts in 1998 and decided that early retirement was the only financial option and we have no regrets either.

Zoopla reckons I could rent my house out in the UK for £2,900 a month as the average price, £3,200 as a highest amount. I could live on that alone without touching the pension, that is a lot of menu of the days by the water fountain in Torre! My number one priority, above myself and anyone else is supporting my son at uni and having a place for him to return to on his breaks. Nothing will distract me from that but so nice being here with good weather, so much healthier, walking around rather than being strapped to a desk all day being driven mad, lol. I do now and again think of abandoning ship though I have to say.
