Wife and son here today, 37th floor in the Hilton, top floor overlooking Copacabana beach in Rio. Could do with a window cleaner I think! I will put some more photos on here as they are doing a lot of travelling over the next three weeks. I should add that beach view room for 2 people is £100 a night. Less than half the price I paid for La Meliá in Alicante.
Uber from airport to Hotel, 23.9 Kms was £10!

I did look up the murder rate of Rio a while ago and I think the police alone kill about 1,000 a year in Rio.

I went to Rio in 1977...a never to be repeated experience. Beautiful place, but so such crime even in those days, I had my bag snatched and had to pay a taxi driver, to pay the police, to get a statement for insurance. Even the taxis didn't stop at traffic lights in case they were attacked.

My Wife is from Brazil as well, not Rio though. You obviously made it through the six months then. Still here and all that! Did you enjoy living there? I think my son does wonder if he would have a good life living there as a doctor one day, they normally have a good lifestyle over there.

Sounds a bit like me. Took Wife down to my level!
She told me she was interviewed by a TV channel today regarding tourism and she was telling them what she is doing and where she is going.
