UK New Year Honours List 2020 And Local Recipients

Today the New Years Honours List was published with over 1,000 people from all walks of life, race and religion being recognised.
As usual the media concentrated on the more well known names on the list, some for the right reasons and others who are questionable recipients of an reward because of their failures in public office.
Some famous faces are on their 2nd or 3rd honour such as June Sarpong and Elton John which suggests that there is an honours ladder to climb as well as a career one these days.
In Spain nine people made the UK New Years Honours List, two of which are more local to this region of Spain than the others.
Mr Brian Thomas McLeod (Entertainer) and Mrs Maureen Payne (President - Age Concern - Costa Blanca Sur) have both been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to charity and services to British Nationals Overseas respectively.
If anyone is wondering who Mr Brian Thoma McLeod is, most will know him as Stevie Spit.
Congratulations to them both.
