Read about this event across several media outlets over the last couple of weeks. Not sure what to make of this to be honest. May be popular because it is unusual, or just fall flat because of the demographics of the area ?

Sorry to contradict the organisers but Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival holds the title of Europe's biggest matchmaking Festival. It's been running since Adam was a boy .

Thanks for the link Bee it made some interesting reading with my morning cuppa. Can't imagine there are still many lonely farmers in the rural Irish community. Seems like tradition is what is keeping this going in name, but the the month of music is the biggest crowd puller with dating the minor element.

Bee, I knew James White very well indeed as he was an old family friend. James moved from Donegal and he was the person who instigated the famous match making at Lisdoonvarna many years ago. To this day, it is the place to go if you are looking for a partner! What a lot of fun was had in that Irish town and still us to this very day!
I was suddenly caught in a time warp when you posted about Lisdoonvarna! I hadn’t thought about it for years!

Why on Earth would somebody think about a match making event in Spain in the month of October ? Are there a lot of people looking for a match? I hope it’s a success anyway.
