Spain To Tighten Rules On All UK Arrivals From 1 July 2021 ?
This is one to keep an eye on in the coming hours as other media outlets are only referring to the Balearic Islands as per Pedro Sanchez's announcement, but El Pais believe it will be country wide.

Tourist chiefs on the Balearic Islands had been calling for restrictions to be put in place over the past few days.
These restrictions if applied country wide may also go some way to appeasing Merkel and Macron who were calling on all EU member states to place restrictions on UK arrivals entering the EU.

Macron and Merkel continue to want to punish the UK for daring to leave their club.

This was bound to happen and I don't think it's anything to do with M + M because Spain has said that it will control it's own borders.
Restrictions shouldn't have been lifed in the first place.

I reckon these figures might have something to do with it. With few dying because of covid I think the people in the UK are mixing more and the unvaccinated are catching it, most at risk have had the jab.

They are doing what the UK should have done.
Why allow those from higher risk in at all.
Whats worse money wise, lising UK tourists, or having tolickdown again and loose all tourists.

I have had both jabs so at the moment it will not affect me going to Spain. I don't think I should be having all these tests coming back to the UK as I am fully vaccinated and the other countries have lower infection rates than the UK. I appreciate we all have different opinions but we can't carry on killing the economies forever if you are vaccinated. What with all these events going on in the UK but stopping people having a holiday, it will have a lot wondering what is really going on. You can only have so many test events or they just become a jolly for the elites

I think Merkel & Macron are on a fools errand as far as keeping the Delta variant out of EU countries is concerned. Once a new variant takes off in one country it is only a matter of time before it spreads everywhere, just like the flu. All M & M can hope to do is slow down the rate of Delta variant infections whilst vaccinating their populations as fast a possible. Restricting UK tourists from entering EU countries may buy them some time, but that is about all. The only way out of the current pandemic is to vaccinate the whole world population.
In the UK, it is the young unvaccinated people that account for most of the recent rise in infections, many of them school children who tend to get a mild form of the disease. Despite this recent increase in COVID infections, thankfully, we are not seeing a corresponding rise in hospitalisations and deaths.
