Delighted to see the Crib is under construction in Plaza Constitucion. Not without the usual cribs - sorry for the pun- about the cost and the contract. I am sure the work is welcome more than ever this year to those who are employed in erecting it and looking after it. Also the Town Hall has invested I think it was an extra €18000 in the Town Christmas lights this year. Again there is nothing like light for lifting the spirits in these uncertain times.

This is good news, although socially distancing might mean a considerable wait in line.

Still amazes me that businesses are prepared to undertake work from the town councils without a contract, and therefore no guarantee of being paid, as well as assume they would have been asked to provide the service once again this year.

Orihuela city has usually a few of these but I do not recall ever seeing an official one here on the coast!

We went into Torrevieja to see how the nativity scene was coming along but saw absolutely nothing at all. Perhaps the work is being done under cover until ready.
The highlight of our outing was seeing the apartment which was very badly damaged by gas in the early hours of Thursday morning. Turns out, it was fine intentionally by a disgruntled man who has been causing disturbance and trouble with his neighbours who denounced him. All the other residents are staying in a local hotel.
The man went on the run but was caught today. Seems he went into a shop in La Mata and an assistant recognised him and called the police! Police arrived and arrested him. Cheers!

Rosemary did you walk around the square as the crib is now built opposite the square on the Ayuntamiento side of the street. It should be nearly finished now as it will be officially unveiled around the 4th Dec. It us probably covered over and shuttered off while they are working on building it.

According to the media, the Belen opened yesterday and will remain open until 8 January 2021.

Yes Carl it is on the Ayuntamiento site that it was officially unveiled yesterday. Everything seems to be a week earlier this year. I presume they don't want crowds gathering at the same time so nothing is announced beforehand.

Hi everyone.
We did manage to visit the nativity scene and Christmas tree.
Probably the reason that we didn’t see the nativity on our first visit there recently was because it isn’t in its usual position. It is definitely smaller and is located on the street where the town hall is. No idea why it was relocated but could be access. In my honest opinion, it didn’t have the same impact that it had every other year but it could simply be where it’s situated. The Christmas tree looked lovely but the square lacked the magical Christmas feel of previous years.
The street directly in front of the church didn’t appear to have any illuminations at all. So strange, nothing. The townhall looked glorious beside the church. It may be that lights will be installed sometime soon.
