Captured another drug lord in the Torrevieja/Orihuela Costa. This guy used to own The Judges Chambers pub and has left a trail of misery in his wake over the years. In particular the cold blooded assassination of a journalist who called him out on his crimes.

There is a video clip of his arrest in the article.

Well done the police.

Just an update confirming that his girlfriend, a British National, was also arrested. Although not named, it says she is well known around the pubs. Also mentions that police had a pub under surveillance.

Elsewhere in the Spanish media it was reported that his son was also one of those arrested.

Thanks for the update Carl.... The ' black haired granny ' made me laugh..

It just gives you an insight into the cooperation and dialogue that the UK /Irish and Spanish police forces and investigative bodies have with each other.

But considering that Spain is the favoured bolt hole of the vast majority of the UK / Ireland's wanted criminals for many years , it's understandable that they have a well established relationship.

Unfortunately it is always reported as Torrevieja where Orihuela Costa is concerned. I am sure the current pub mentioned is also in Orihuela Costa as was the Judges Chambers. According to today's papers it was a Garda informant who tipped them off on the hidden gun. Another dissatisfied gang member ?🙄

I am sure the 'black haired granny' will be named locally at some point, especially as 'she is known in pubs throughout Alicante'. Unless she enjoys pub crawls, she must have some connection with the pubs.

Your right about the insight. I am sure people are detained on a daily basis following cooperation between the various forces, but we only hear about the high profile arrests.

Carl be sure and let me know if you hear anything and also where his house is. If he was trying to keep a low profile Orihuela Costa wouldn't have been a smart place to be as every Irish person would have recognised him.

Of course I will do Bee, although I have just gone through the arrest video again and that house he was taken from is not on the Orihuela Costa, it is somewhere within the boundaries of Torrevieja.

I noticed that there was a concrete pillar in the parking area opposite his property. I have never seen this around the Orihuela Costa, but I have seen this arrangement in the Torrevieja area - Los Balcones possibly ? A pair of pillars flank a wheelie bin to stop it moving.

Then I went back and checked the wheelie bin, and it has a Torrevieja crest on the side.

So I went with Los Balcones and turned to Google street view, and have located the property - 32 Calle Covadonga, 03186. Access to the property is between Nos. 30 and 34, and it is located directly behind No. 34 so is not visible from the street.

Please be aware that there is a another Calle Covadonga in Torrevieja, with another No. 32, but has an 03185 post code.
