Cause for hope yet re the Oxford covid 2 vaccine
Cause for hope yet re the Oxford covid 2 vaccine
I read in today's Informacion that the New York Times has said the patient with symptoms which has stopped the vaccine trial for the moment has been diagnosed with transverse myelitis. This is usually an inherited auto immune disease. They don't know yet if this person was on the placebo or the vaccine as it is a double blind test.

This article seems to suggest that the New York Times source may not have been au fait with all the facts and/or processes to determine final diagnosis before speaking to them.

Have to say that the final paragraph of the article is very sad. Imagine volunteering to trial the vaccine in the hope to help others, only to discover during the testing of the vaccine that you have undiagnosed multiple sclerosis.

We will all be queueing. I am not worried about getting Covid but I would hate to be the one to pass it on to someone else.

Delighted to see that the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine trials have resumed. No other information given on the illness suffered by the person on the trial.
