Got here with Ryanair at Alicante this morning. Completed my form that is required after passport control, where are you staying questions etc. Best to do that before you travel. I went in a mercodona and as long as you wear a mask it seems that people are doing what they want. Other than the entrance there is no one way system. No waiting outside for 30 minutes like the UK, off to a restaurant, feels good.

Was the airport busy?

Plane was roughly 65 to 70% full. Airport was very very quiet.
I went to Eduardo's tonight, about 4 tables occupied, Villamartin plaza very quiet. Their menu has changed a bit, like a lot of places i expect. Two waitresses, crumbs on the table given, had to ask for napkin halfway through meal, steak was like it had been left on large BBQ flame for 20 minutes, just tasted.of incinerated meat, prices up by 30% with no set menus, what a shame, must have been in there 100.times,.tonight was as bad as you could get. If had a dog I would not have taken home the half steak I left. Think i will just go down to Torre by the place at the fountain, one third of the price, better food. I can cook better food myself than Eduardo's, think a 12 year old could have done better tonight.

I've never eaten at Eduardos.
But I agree with you about Alhingi's at the water fountain in Torrevieja.
Great food - great service , and great value for money .

Did you complain to the management

Are the restaurants like Alingii open and busy in Torre?
If flights are travelling out half empty, how could the places be busy? Read that Plata del Cura beach yesterday was busy but not so Los Locas.

I read last night that a large town close to Barcelona has been put into lockdown. This is somewhat scary. August is the month when many people from other parts of Spain descend on the coast so that is bound to put the fear of God into everyone.

Part of me is starting to think that perhaps I shouldn’t bother taking my flight in September but I will wait and see what happens in the next few weeks. This virus is off putting. The call of the wall to wall sunshine is exciting but the fear of the virus is stronger.

Is it like summer over there or is it a bit like springtime with locals mostly in evidence?

Over here, we don’t seem to have anymore cases worth talking about so people are all heading to the coast and the atmosphere is lovely. I think many people here plan to stay at home this summer so dear help the airlines. It’s a catch 22 situation. Fear over safety.

Rosiemac .. It's very hot and humid here and is quite busy with locals and tourists alike

We went for a meal at Rusticas, Playa Flamenca on Thursday and it was full inside and out with tables observing the 2mt rule.
And the food and service was excellent as usual.

Then we went downstairs to Legends and joined Richie Alexanders surprise birthday party for his wife Christine . A thoroughly good night.

As an aside, Eduardos was always overpriced for what it was and I was never impressed with the food, and there are many other restaurants in Villamartin Plaza that are so much better in price and quality.

I am here for the month of August, I would come over as everyone is wearing a mask in the shops, bring some hand gel and relax. I am quite enjoying it. I have a 3 hour car journey now, going south and inland, meeting up with my pensioner friends, back up to see my son when he flies over on Thursday, back to UK Saturday.
Fred, I did not complain so some will say it is my fault, accepted, I could not be bothered will all the hassle, I have too much of that every day of my life with my day job. Relax and move on, so nice to be here, perfect weather, refurbed apartment, perfect. Very happy.

Refurbed apartment? Oh you lucky duck. Did you change everything or just the bathroom/ kitchen.

I have no idea how I would go about doing a refurb. Where do you out all your furniture etc.,? Were you in residence when the work was being carried out?

We had 3 bathrooms completely remodelled, fully tiled etc., the first one, We went to London and let the boys get on with it, our en-suite, we went to Spain for a week and the final one, we were here and the whole house seemed to be covered in dust and mess. The decorator moved in after that and then the carpet fitters. A detestable job but very well worth the effort.
Don’t know why I am even asking about refurbishing in Spain, no money left I am told!
