What members on here are worried about losing their UK bank accounts. Certainly no Barclays Bank account holders that I can see.elcarretero wrote: 02 Oct 2020 13:40 This is a discussion forum, you should be concerned for all the members here, especially those worried about losing their UK bank accounts.
You seem to be a very shallow and self centered person who cannot debate nicely.
And so it's insult time is it, no surprise there then.
So I'm shallow and self centered am I, and cannot debate nicely. Who posted this then.. Do you call that ' nicely'
"Point 2 It is fraudulent to purport to live at a UK address when you patently do not
Point 3 It is against forum rules to encourage people to break the law"
And what members on here live in ' other European countries' that we should be so concerned about. ?
And in case it has escaped your attention but the main body of the original thread mentioned Barclays Bank only and Barclays Bank was heavily mentioned in the posted link, so it was fairly obvious that Barclays Bank would be discussed.. innit

No developments to the detriment as far I can see, but Barclaycard emailed me on 11/9/2020 with ...
"As long as your account’s in order, you can continue to use your card until 22 October 2020. If you’re unable to provide us with your UK residential address by 16 November 2020, your account will be closed on that day."
Well we are now 4 November and I have used my Barclaycard on numerous occasions with no problems whatsoever, so I can only assume that Barclaycard have accepted the UK residential address that I gave them along with a UK mobile phone number. And no doubt thousands of other Barclaycard customers have done the same.
There has also been nothing more said that I know of, of banks like Barclays etc, closing down customers accounts who live in the EU, ie Spain.

Well I've just received and email from Barcaycard informing me of changes to their terms and conditions as of 26 January 2021 none of which affect me.
But it confirms my assumption that they have accepted the UK residential address that I gave them.
Barclays Bank have already confirmed that they need a UK residential address to send statements to, but as we bank online, that won't affect us either.

Just received notification this morning from Barclays Bank about changes to their Terms & Conditions.
Amongst the changes, they have now more clearly defined closure of accounts/ending of service with particular reference to residence. Residence had not previously been covered in their Terms & Conditions with the exception of reference to not having leave to remain in the UK.

That applies to the Basic Account which all EU banks were forced to set up by the EU so as the UK is no longer in the EU they do not need to conform to the EU ruling
Normal current accounts are not effected
