I'm sure that Carl has lot's of people sussed out.

Noticeable that once again the first person to make personal comments was not me.

I will say it again, unless he is stopped from personal comments the forum will descend into bitterness as opposed to information sharing and sensible debate.

Next time a personal comment is made about me I will respond likewise.
And as some know i can get very personal.
It will spoil the forum but thats a choice made by not dealing with those who cannot stick to the subject without insults or goading.

Others choice.

Don't bite Jimbo. It's patently obvious to all and sundry that that's the object of the insults and goading.

I have every confidence that the Admin will deal with it as he done so in the past and veiled insinuations that " He has you sussed out " or in my case " Has your cards marked " ( Planco) will not go un- noticed.

The foe option is an excellent way of ignoring people by default but gives you the option of reading their posts if you are really curious, but be warned, you can't unread what you have read.

You and I go back many years and we both have bought a lot of baggage to this forum, but it's been a fresh start for many of us. Carl is fully aware of personal histories and has been as honest with us as I hope some of us have been with him .. I certainly have. He's been around for as long as some of us ' oldies'

So please re-consider the foes list because now that Walshy and Planco are gone, we have no longer have a Mork and Mindy ..... Nanu Nanu ;)

My slight annoyance with the foes list in general is that is that if a post made by someone on your foes list is quoted in a response then you see it - I would like it still hidden but can't seem to find that option.

Yes that's true stowie39. But I find that if its a derogatory comment, which it normally is, then a friend of the foe has quoted it in his response to have a futher dig .. so put him on your foes list as well. Then you kill two birds with one stone. ;)

I have just looked into this and unfortunately stowie39 there is not an option for that with the existing forum software, or an extension to the software that incorporated to provide it at this time.

Stowie39.
The easiest thing to do , if you see something you don't agree with , or don't like ...is just ignore it , and scroll by .

It doesn't come easier than that .

Maybe , that's why I've never personally felt the need for the "foe's" option .

Thanks for trying, its not a big issue, I have only felt the need to "foe" on person and now when I see them involved in any thread I just scroll past.

Looking back through the forum software support pages, this type of option was first discussed back in 2012 between a couple of board administrators, although no further discussion has taken place since 2015 as far as I could see.

Between 2012 - 2015, a couple of board administrators were tweaking (unofficially) the forum software to try to provide some type of option to hide a quoted 'Foe' embedded post in a response, but it seems that their tweaking had a knock-on affect to other elements of the software they had not envisaged at the time.

It would appear that the official software developers have never seen the need to implement such an option, and there was a view that if a 'foe' quote is embedded in a post and is hidden, you are not in a position to fully understand the context of a post if you cannot see the embedded 'foe' quote which the post is responding to.

There had also been dialogue in 2014 about an option to block any topics started by a 'Foe', but discussons were short lived. The problem with this was whilst you might not like the 'Foe', you might be interested in seeing the topic started by the 'Foe' and reading any contributing posts by other members. In blocking the 'Foes' topic you would see neither the topic or any posts.
